What's your budget? I use studio monitors, which are available anywhere from 150 to 1500 and even beyond, but work best when you have a good DAC or other dedicated output hardware.
It's been a long time since I've done any research on current options, but last I knew, Audio Engine speakers try to bridge the gap between simple desktop powered speakers and pro studio monitors.
