But know question is play at one point was an a very high level. He was tracking to be a HOFer at one point.

The fact that he was a captain in Toronto suggests that he may very well still have a shot at the HoF.
Not to mention 1048 games and 494 points is nothing to sneeze at. All the same, he is a long shot at best.
