Why not scale down all the numbers in the condition to 85% of what they were originally agreed upon?
- Neal has to score at least 17.8 goals
- Lucic has to score at least 8.5 fewer goals
Neal has 19, Lucic has 8. That's a difference of 11.
Seems fair to me. But I'm not the NHL.

I assume the deal was written that the third round pick would transfer if 21 goals were scored. They weren’t. It’s really that simple.
If the Flames wanted to place a contingency on the proration based on games played, they could have suggested it. But they presumably didn’t, so as a matter of contract law, it’s a done deal.
If he had scored 11 goals in 41 games, should the pick pass? What’s the dividing line?
