It is more than likely, if not a certainty, that things are going to look significantly worse in the next few week so I can't see how the NHL could possibly justify continuing with their season. If they were to cancel/suspend next week or the following week, say, as conditions worsen, they would look like complete idiots given that other leagues have suspended theirs already.

Noting from that Medium article about how significant even one day of delay in taking proactive measures is in affecting transmission rates, I hope the NHL closes the season today. You would have to think there would be a few in the crowd of 19,000 tonight who already have the virus (with or without symptoms) and would most likely transmit it to others in the crowd. Not worth the risk to this city, IMO.
