If you don't have your CPA then a degree in accounting is not worth much. This is something that the "free college" crowd doesn't seem to understand. Once the market becomes saturated with college grads (which it already is) then it forces people to get their masters, or Phd or some other form of post college accreditation. The real value of post secondary higher learning is that it sets you apart from the field. When that is no longer the case, it is pretty useless.
