This is my opinion being in industry but in accounting university has not caught up to the demands of the workforce. 30 years ago an accounting BComm could do almost everything and learn in the workforce.
But the work as gotten so complex now and the University has not. For examples in the areas of auditing, financial and business reporting.
So not only are there more degrees saturating the market, but less is learned in that 4 year program at a higher cost.
