Shows like Picard and any other reboot, or sequel series to a beloved original is never going to win, because of the high expectations and nostalgia.
I haven't minded the series, but I won't say its a great piece of TV, its plagued by writing inconsistancies, too many story lines jammed into most episodes, and some poorly thought out characters like Space Ninja's.
I did enjoy last nights episode. One thing that this series is striving to do I think is story line resolution of old characters. 7 of 9, Hugh, Riker and Troi. Its a bit of fan service, but we knew it was coming.
In terms of Riker and Troi I 90% feel like that's it, they are shown as going through tragedy, and coming out ok, I would almost think that this was a good bye to the characters there's nothing more.
The only thing that stands out is that Riker is on Active Reserve. Maybe Star Fleet demands he comes back to hunt down the renegade Picard. Riker in a rage eats the Chief of Star Fleet security and crashes the Titan into the sun.
