Things like StubHub have been programmed to calculate supply and demand. Then they promote the tickets to sell for the average price which sets market value. Ideally, a great system.
It would be interesting to see a StubHub report on the average value of a season ticket over the course of a year versus what the STH price is for the Flames.
I do however, think StubHub has been rigged to convince people to sell for lower, and driving the resale value of tickets in general lower on all markets where the supply/demand might be even over the last couple years. They've worked hard on that algorithm to create buyers and sellers and control demand to their house advantage, which has hurt the resale market in general. Not too mention the very poor economy in Calgary.
One of the great things about last night was all of the fans, flames people who were there, and were able to get tickets super cheap at STH expense. Even though I am a STH, it was great to see a diverse crowd of young and old where this was an affordable outing. Clearly a very special one for them and those that stayed were treated to a moment that doesn't translate on TV.
End of random thoughts. Lol
