Incorrect. O'Ryans were the Hostess version of Ruffles which were unavailable in Canada at the time. When Frito Lay acquired Hostess there was no need to have a knock off of their own product so they simply discontinued O'Ryans as a brand and introduced Ruffles to the Canadian marketplace.

Although the O'Ryans was a lot thicker cut than the current Ruffles. There were a few changes made, actually. Hostess Barbecue was way better than the current Lay's BBQ.
