When guys would get hurt Bob would make them complete his comeback program. There was a silly name for it. And Staj said only the 3rd and 4th liners did it. Top line guys would go straight back into the lineup when returning from injury.
So one season Matty gets hurt and Bob tells him he has to run the full stairs with Cloutiet the Asst Coach who’s pushing 60.
He described how Cloutier was slow as molasses. Said he could run the whole dome 3-4 times in the time it took them to do it following Cloutier.
To make matters worse it happened during the Avs morning skate or practice so Iggy and Sarich were out there. He described how embarrassing and pissed he was as a 10 year vet and he’s out there running stairs with a senior citizen looking like a total goof.
Said it makes for a funny story now but it wasn’t funny at the time.
