But if the team isn't a contender (and I agree they aren't), then why hang onto our UFA defencemen,
and spend picks on bringing in more UFA defencemen?
It's the incoherence of the strategy that's baffling. Unless the thinking is:
"Not good enough to contend, but not bad enough to look to the future."
Which management should probably just stencil above the dressing room doors as the team motto.
