I'm saying last deadline is one where MOST good GMs would have injected additions at the deadline, EVEN if it is a pure rental. Things are wide open this year, look at every playoff team having improved their roster via trade already!
The flames winning a round or 2, and the entire direction of the franchise changes. We basically went into this year ready to throw Monahan and Gaudreau out of town, questioning if they are good for anything.
Now Treliving not doing anything at last years' deadline, then doubling down and doing NOTHING in the offseason (yes yes, he tried, he tried hard, woulda-coulda-shoulda), finds himself in the weird predicament of not doing ANYTHING for a whole calendar year!
If that I isn't the definition and signal of spinning ones wheels and remaining right smack in the thick of mediocrity.

We were talking about Stone in particular. So should Treliving have bettered the Vegas offer for a rental of Stone (because I think there's no way he could be re-signed within reason)?
