To be fair, while I am no Hamonic fan boy, Hanifin missed the Defending 101 class. It’s like he was never taught the basics. His backward skating is bad for such a great skater, his positioning is mind blowing and he has no clue how to angle out an attacking forward. He points his skates to the puck and starts chasing... that’s why he always gets beat or ends up away from the play.
If anyone could fix this it’s Huska. Hopefully.
I will 100% agree that he has played much better without Hammer though, he needs to be paired with a two way player.
