I'm not sure why you'd think this. It's not like black voters will be going to the polls in droves to try to elect a black VP. That happened for Obama because he was the first, and because of his charisma, but I have no reason to think there will be some groundswell of energy for the bottom of the ticket at this stage.

Moreover, the theory that people will vote for people who look like them has totally collapsed in this process. When it started, there was a lot of talk in the punditry about who would secure the African-American support - would it be Harris or Booker? Turns out it was neither, and most of that support went to the old white guys. A similar case could be made for the suggestion that young people would vote for Pete because Pete is young. Nope, they all want to vote for the 70 year olds.
