well not enough details to know if the complaint has merit.
but it's on the chef if he quits his city job to be a full time personal chef.
you want your sweet dream gig, you have to assume some risks.
If the actually guy had a written and signed contract, should be easy enough for this to be decided. If he doesn't, then he was dumb, especially if what he claimed is true and he was stiffed before.
