I don't agree (obviously, I guess). They're similar in terms of their give-a-crap meter, but Mangiapane is head and shoulders above Bennett in terms of hockey sense, skill level, and ability to both use the players around him, and make himself useful to him. He can read the play and anticipate, react and improvise. Bennett simply cannot.
Bennett's biggest detriment has always been his tunnel vision. His goal tonight was classic blinders on, bull straight ahead Bennett. If he can't do it alone -- as he did in junior, where he was successful -- he can't do it at all, and 9 times out of 10 that doesn't work at this level.
I'm going to say the last stretch of games has been an anomaly. I hope I'm wrong. I don't think I am. But if I had to choose between them, it wouldn't take me a second to make that call.
