We test the rower all the time (crossfit). I can pull 500 meters in 1:27, 1000 in 3:05, 1500 in 5:13, 2000 meters is 7:03.
I'm 44, just over 6' and approx 205lbs with gangly arms and long legs. Which is pretty beneficial on the rower; most taller, big guys can generate far more power than smaller people can. You don't need to be a fire breather at all to score well.
I've never tested a 5000 and there's about a 0% chance I will anytime soon (unless it's programmed). Rowing suuuuucks....I'd rather be on the Airdyne.
