Yeah, history shows that mercenary armies are just a bad idea, they have to survive to spend their pay checks and have no loyalties to anyone but themselves.
Canada does at some point need to really have a serious discussion around our national defense strategy and what the vision is moving forward.
We're approaching rust out on a lot of platforms and it doesn't help that our procurement process is horrific and slow, and there's no stomach to spend money to fix it, and when we do, its often either the wrong choice, or the actual purchase or build is poorly done.
We have a recruiting and retention problem, nobody wants to serve in a service that really doesn't care about them, or give them the best chance of success.
Leader after leader no matter which party it is, just seems to plunge another knife into the body.
