My opinion on Hamonic and Hanifin, well defensemen in general is there always needs to be a dynamic of a dominarte in play. Gio is the unquestioned dominate so whoever plays with him has to read off of his play. Brodie works well here as does Andersson. To me, Brodie starts to slip when he has to move up to carry the pair. Andersson works so well because he's a great player but he reads the play and other so well that he easily slides from the dominate to passive very easily and is equally good at both.

Now the problem I see with Hamonic and Hanifin is neither is the dominate and neither is really the passive. It is just not a great fit instinct wise not necessarily skill of talent wise. Hanifin needs to turn the corner and assert himself on the ice but at just 23 I don't see that happening in the within this year. I think it will click soon as to how good he can be and a partner like Andersson could be a perfect fit. Having a partner that can read and react to your play is hugely underrated and can make life so much easier for a great defenseman.

I feel that Andersson and Hanifin should be a pairing now and when Giordano returns. Sets it up nicely for next year.
