This thread is asking the wrong question. The question is not what is wrong with Gaudreau, the question is what is wrong with the team. The whole entire roster is way off pace. What is wrong with Monahan? Why does Backlund look like a 4th line scrub? Why does Jankowski who almost had 20 last year have two goals and has fallen off a cliff? Why has Tkachuk also recently fallen off a cliff? Why is Gio's numbers way off? It isn't Gaudreau, it is a coaching and system issue. Peters said after last years playoff loss he was going to change things to be more defensive and Ward has carried that exact chip and chase garbage after Peters left. This is an offensive skilled group BT has assemble and they are being told to play cautious offensively with the focus being on everyone backchecking hard. It does not fit this roster at all, it is trying to force a square peg into a round hole. It won't work. If BT is not going to make a coaching change then Ward needs to go back to the offensive system the Flames used last year. That is the only way this gets turned around.
