I respectfully disagree. Let's use johnny as an example.
His value was undoubtedly at its highest possible before the playoffs last year- his highest ever point total driving the best team in the west's offence. The poor playoff showing probably hit his value a bit, but not much. People saw how dynamic he is just last year.
This season rolls around. The flames struggle. Luckily for Johnny it appears the whole team is struggling. There are coaching issues. Drama. Maybe personal issues.
GMs have good memories. They remember how dynamic johnny can be, and so far the evidence against his dynamism is still fairly limited. He's also on an incredible value contract for 2 more years of team control. Hes still leading this team in points.
Another poor playoff showing will definitely hurt that value as it will start to become a very pronounced trend. For now the jury is still out imo, and that is why we need to move him sooner than later.
I think this same thought process applies to hanifin in a slightly different way ( potential) . It probably doesnt apply to hamonic who has been dog#### for a few seasons straight now. Gio just won the Norris, but frankly I'd be more than happy just to escape the contract long term.
