They do, not trying to argue that coaching doesn’t make a difference. I’m arguing that in this particular case with the 19-20 Calgary Flames I don’t believe coaching is as big an issue as it’s being made out to be. I don’t believe hiring Gallant or Laviolette is going to change much unless the players are changed too.
I believe a much bigger issue is that the team has a ton of underperforming players both in the top six and bottom six. The top six is struggling to produce at the pace they are capable of and the bottom six is struggling to produce at all.
I’m not saying I’m opposed to hiring a new coach, I just don’t think it will make much of a difference if they do. I just don’t see a team that has tuned out their coach, I see a team that has bad players.
