Flames were beaten mostly because of 2 players. Draisaitl was the best player in the game again and looked outshone the best player in the game in McDavid.
Fact is the Flames don’t have dominant centers like this and haven’t since the 80’s. I know there’s a lot of Monahan fans here and he’s improved in some aspects of his game. But too often he’s unnoticeable unless he scores a goal.
Team needs more than just that. Draisaitl put up a playoff Mackinnon like performance tonight against Monahan and it’s disappointing that the Flames don’t have a big horse up the middle like this. Lindholm is the best and most complete center on this team but he doesn’t have that dominating factor that the top guys have.
I just can’t see the Flames going far in the playoffs without that guy. Elite #1 centers win championships and if I’m Treliving, I’m trading whoever on this team to get that. Flames played Lindholm, Monahan, Ryan and Backlund up the middle tonight and they got absolutely trounced.
