It's because of a pattern of reckless play. Last night when he stuck his leg out on McDavid is just another example.
Thankfully nothing happened and it should have been just a 2 minute minor, but you do that enough times and some of them turn out bad, like Koivu.
I'd be curious to see how many other players have been involved in this many injuries in such a short span. Can't think of any on the Canadian teams.

He has been involved in play on plays that have injured 4-5 sure. But you could probably say that for many players.
He has been reckless - in any way - for 2.
There is nothing about yesterday that was “reckless”. It’s an unfortunate part of a fast game - nothing more.
