It's worth pointing out that McDavid telegraphs that play and then takes the tightest line possible. That's his m.o.
Gio reads that play and starts moving over before McDavid cuts over. His leg moving over is a function of taking that ice, which I think he's entitled to. McDavid is quicker than gio, but I absolutely believe that he takes the right defensive posture, and needed about a foot more ice to bump mcavi legally.
Calling it dirty or even reckless is being pretty dramatic. Not everything is a documentary. Dime a dozen play only made notable by the reaction on the bench.
Bad but understandable look though from a guy who hasn't played enough meaningful hockey to know that space and time shrink and people are going to start defending these lines more physically.
