Sorry, the analysts were Oiler fans, and were trying to manufacture a story. Given that Gio’s backside was facing McDavid, the only way he could have contacted him with a knee would have been if Gio’s knees could bend backwards. Yes, he tried to stick his butt out and McDavid avoided the hit and caught on the back of Gio’s skate instead, but frankly, the play was more dangerous for Gio, because his Achilles’ tendon nearly got run over
