The first year I played basketball was as a 10-year old in 1996, the same year Kobe started in the NBA. MJ was obviously a legend, but we all loved Kobe more, because he was young and exciting and awesome. The yellow Bryant 8 jersey was ubiquitous in my school.
What a tragedy. As a father, I think first of his daughters and wife. Their lives are in pieces. And my thoughts are also with the families of the other unfortunate souls on that helicopter. Life is abjectly unfair sometimes.
