Instead there are Al Bundys like Ferraro and Kesler living in imaginary pasts.
Ray Ferraro was a kinda skilled, pretty determined, very chippy player who drifted toward the tops of his team in PIMs and probably fought twice a year. In the 80s and 90s. 5 guys on each team ate knuckles on his behalf regularly. He sure as hell never fought a legit tough guy but I guarantee he carved a few with his stick when he could.
Kesler is worse. Maybe the dirtiest player of his era and again almost never fought. When he did it was at a time that suited, against a fellow chippy non fighter like Domi (woops) or gasp, Tkachuk (think Kesler forgot Tkachuk beat him at his own game when he commented? Me either) The dirtiest MF on the planet one playoff finally fought noted tough guy Ryan Johansen only after being called out plenty and (surprise) losing big and trying to turn his team around. Before it suited him his comments were an awful lot like ‘stay off the tracks’. He sure as F never answered to Austin Watson because hey he should fight.
When Tkachuk pulls someone’s hair, bites them or licks them we can talk moral right and wrong. This is all just sour grapes from those who’s guy lost.

You really have to dig deeper on these comments and not be a freaking lemming and listen and believe everything you hear.
Ferraro works for TSN, he has daily radio hits on TSN radio stations. Last I checked these were in Edmonton and Vancouver and not in Calgary. As far as I know, Ferraro does not do any radio hits on Calgary radio. He panders to the markets that he works in because it pays the bills. Yes I know he's not hurting for money, but hey a job is a job and money is money. You can never have too much.
As for Kesler, there is so much bias here, you'd have to be an idiot to take anything he says as the truth:
1) he is friends with Kassian;
2) he is starting a new podcast, hmmm what should he talk about? Something boring and vanilla like the Seattle expansion team or something polarizing and controversial like Tkachuk/Kassian? Which side should he take? Maybe get Tkachuk on to talk? Nope, they don't like me (see next point), wait, i'm friends with Zack, this should be easy;
3) Kesler got beat down by 3 Tkachucks in this career, old man Walt and both sons.
Who other "impartial" voice of reason do the Oilers have spewing their propaganda? Or right, Scottie Upshall, life long Oiler fan who's last kick at the can in the NHL was with the Oilers. Yeah, no bias there.
Anyone else? Did Jason Strudwick say anything?
OH right, there's the impartial and professional Oilers media.
In today's world, there is no impartiality in the "media". There's a reason for everything that is said in the media, just follow the money.
You don't hear much support for Tkachuk, because the Flames aren't a pathetic organization worried about what others think. Treliving isn't out there calling in air support. Tkachuk doesn't even give a ####, it's not worth his time. He's got better things to do like enjoying his all star game in his hometown.
