If I take off my Cavalry-coloured glasses, I like the Borges transfer. As well as Waterman, Malonga, and even future departures, even though those ones create some challenges for Cavalry.
It shows that the league is doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing: becoming a cog in the global soccer machine. This helps the path for homegrown players to advance their careers abroad, and also gives foreign players a reason to give the league a shot.
And let's be honest - this is how the clubs and league is going to become, and remain, financial viable. Scout, recruit, showcase, sell. The league and clubs have done a good job at signing these guys to contracts so they can't get scooped for free. Ticket sales, streaming/TV money, sponsorships, etc. all play a part, but selling players is going to be vital. This is just year one.
