Player A hits Player B with two legal body checks and separate points in the game.

Player B then attacks Player A from behind giving Player A no realistic chance to defend himself.

Player B receives 14 minutes in penalties and costs his team the game.

Player B returns to the ice after serving his penalties and is hit cleanly a third time by Player A.

Player B is suspended for two games while Player A receives no further penalties as the hits were determined to be legal.

This is where it gets insane:

Player B is hailed as a hero in the media and Player A is accused of turtling.

Player A is also accused of ignoring “the code”.

Player A is accused of being afraid of Player B despite targeting Player B later in the game.

When you take the teams out of it, this whole situation is ridiculous. There is an absolute bias in the media towards Edmonton and quite frankly their line of thinking (if you can call it thinking) is extremely flawed. “The Code” as I understand it is that if you throw a hit on a player and it is dirty, seriously injures someone, or that player is a star you should fight. That is barbaric but I can understand it. Unfortunately for Kassian the hits were not dirty, he suffered no injuries other than to his ego, and he is not a star. In no world does this make believe code with a very loose definition apply here.
