That season was certainly defined by Turek getting seriously injured requiring the Kipper trade, where he and Noodles manned the net before Kipper was then hurt. McLennan held the fort while both were injured and Noodles himself had a broken sternum.
My point being that Turek basically lost his net permanently once Kipper came to town. Whereas Kipper and McLennan were more of a tandem that year.

Oh absolutely agreed. But I don't think that excludes the Kipper/Turek combo. If Kipper went down or was unavailable for a game back in 04, the Flames had a darn good #2 option to fall back upon. Rittich is certainly a less defined starter this year but I think the general sentiment applies to both goalie duos.
