From game 26 through game 47 the Flames earned 32 points in 22 games. That's a 119 point pace for the season. If they kept that pace up over the final 35 games they'd finish with 106 points, one back of last year's 107 total points.
If they earned the same number of points that last year's team did in the final 35 games they'd finish with 98 points. Many people say last year's team played poorly after the ASG or the 2nd half. The decline didn't start until after game 64. The 2018-19 team only earned 18 points in the final 18 games. At the end of game 64 the Flames we 14.073 points above the black line and were on pace for 114 points. Between games 41 and 64 they were on a 125 point pace. From the first game after the ASG (game 52) through game 64 the Flames were on a 114 point pace.
tl;dr The narrative that last year's team was terrible after the second half and/or the ASG is completely incorrect. The downturn started with game #65, but even in the final 14 games they were on a 105 point pace and finished the year with 107 points, good for tops in the Western Conference.
