So 6.5 per is probably the high Scenario going year by year. 3 million per is probably if his development were to stall today. So 4.5 is roughly half way between the two potential outcomes. The only question is whether the 1 million extra spent the next 2 years good be better spent in the Gaudreau window.
Overall a good deal to keep cost certainty for the next 6 years on what could be a cornerstone player.

I like the contract, but there is no way he will be a #1 defenseman, maybe he can become a #2 in time. Most likely a good 2nd pairing defenseman for most of this contract which would be great.
