I never take the buddy buddy interactions at conventions really seriously anymore. I think Galaxy Quest did a great job of things in terms of showing a cast member in disarray.

From everything I've read, the cast of TNG was extraordinarily close. They spent half their time on set fooling around, hung out together offset, were always pranking each other and making inside jokes, etc. They pretty much became close friends*. Dorn didn't quite fit in. Which doesn't mean he was difficult - just not best buddies like the rest of them.
By contrast, the set of DS9 was apparently extremely serious. The cast barely spoke to one another except in a professional context, let alone hung around together off set.
* The exception being Marina Sirtis and Gate McFadden, whose mutual antipathy is evident in any of those cast reunions at cons.
