I agree with you that everyone's priorities are unique, and his may very well be a good fit. My post was looking at solutions in more of a big-picture sense, as getting coaching/front-office talent here has been a problem (although I personally think a lot of that has to do with ownership). There is definitely a barrier to working in a Canadian market, and you have to find ways to stack the cards in your favor where you can.
Either way, i think the Flames should be pushing hard for him, even if we're not his obvious #1. This is a great opportunity.
