Hurricanes catch a break as Senators star goaltender Marty Turco suffers a mysterious hip injury during an after the whistle scrum. The scrum started after Sen’s Peter Bondra labelled one half of the Hurricanes
Red Light Duo Milan Hejduk into the boards directly behind Turco. Hejduk lay motionless on the ice for several minutes after the hit, no word how Turco suffered his injury but it is possible that during the pair offs after the whistle that Cane’s defensemen Mike Komisarek may have accidentally two hand chopped his stick across Turco’s hip. As well there is also word that after Turco fell to the ice that Komisarek may have slipped on the ice and fell awkwardly with his knee driving into Turco’s hip once again, but then it may just be coincidental too. “I’ve seen the replays and the angle I’ve seen is a little deceiving” commented Hurricanes GM Hanna after the game “it only looks like Mike broke his stick but if you rewind the tape you will see that Mike was only trying to keep his balance after being pushed by the Senators player” When asked if he actually believed that, Hanna only replied “no…. OH, I mean, NO more comment”.
After the Hurricanes were able to calm down after the cheap shot on Hejduk (which Hurricanes are sending in to league office, funny thing is there seems to be no such Komisarek incidents at all to be found in the tape” the Cane’s found themselves down 3-0 to the Sen’s… That’s till Milan was able to get his head on straight and continued his amazing run that’s hurled himself on top of the leagues scoring but also the Hurricanes in league standing by netting a goal and three assist to secure a 6-4 win.
Canes look to see if they can continue its 10 gaming winning streak as it heads into Los Angeles on Sunday.
