I kind of see it as a positive that it took him a few weeks to get help. Instead of it just being reactionary to the event itself and maybe feeling like he was forced to do it, he took the time to evaluate where he was and took this next step with a bit of distance from the firing. It can be easy to get caught up with the whirlwind and then the seeds of doubt and negativity sabotage the process later on.
