Yeah, honestly the Yuuzhan Vong story line was just really weird. The Series after that which was the Legacy series where Jacen Solo goes really bad, like really really bad as in torturing his cousin, burning the Wookie Home World was surprisingly good, and I'd recommend reading the series. The final EU series which was the Fate of the Jedi which involved the Lost Tribe of the Sith and a all powerful evil, was not great at all.
But dropping a moon on Chewie actually made me laugh.
