Seems like when we do make that change we've been dominant. Is there an obvious reason why that isn't the style of attack normally?

Every team that's playing all out desperation mode looks dominant in garbage time.
Good teams can be effective in their game plan itself, not just in desperation mode or in bursts, or when playing an opposition not dialled in.
