I really want to see Andersson begin to embrace the nasty side of the game a little bit more, especially if Hamonic is on his way out. The Flames haven't had a truly fearsome presence on the back-end since the underrated Deryk Engelland, but Andersson has the capability to become a dual threat: able to contribute effectively in the offensive zone (at 6v5 in particular) but also by being an annoying presence in his own end.
There aren't too many pure stay-at-home guys left in the league who simply patrol and police the other team, but Andersson has the ability to blend a similar aspect of that into his game. It's a sort of combination of agitator and warrior. Giordano has a bit of it in him, but I think Andersson has more of it. Mind, Giordano is a better overall player, but Andersson's potential in this category is part of why I think he has the ability to be a true #1 defenseman in the future -- he can be that guy who, when he jumps on the ice, everybody knows he's there and everybody takes note of it.
In short, man I miss Deryk Engelland, but I think Andersson can start to emulate the best parts of him to become an even more effective defenseman.
