If you're looking for the real reason the Iggy/Kipper Flames never achieved more than 2004, those two drafts are why.
Matt Pelech is another player who early on looked like he would be a good NHL player, but whose career was hampered by injuries. I think the way the game changed quite suddenly starting in 2005 also had an impact—but this was not something that was foreseen at the time it happened. If anything I would call 2005 unlucky.
