Both people made a flabbergastingly poor decision.
I suspect that neither person at the time of making their costume decision, would have been considered fully considering the history of blackface and its full set of implications.
Being a son of a politician, and wanting a future in politics, I would expect Trudeau to have some cultural awareness and sensitivity. I have no idea what on earth he was thinking
Not knowing the equipment guy, well.. I have no idea what on earth he was thinking either...

It's not a stretch to posit that his intentions were far from innocent or naive. Tony Deynzer dressed in blackface and deliberately targeted and mimicked the only black player on the team with his antics. I'm finding it impossible to find any way to excuse this.

I suppose the best outcome is if the guy declares that he was straight up wrong, has educated himself, apologizes publically, and hopes that this can be used as a teaching moment.
Because if he has been a full time equipment manager, I don’t think he can immediately snap his fingers and drum up a political career.

The best outcome for whom? This sounds like a great deal for the equipment guy; not so much for Aliu, nor potentially for other players who have been the object of similar shameful incidents.
