My issue with Lou is not so much his mannerisms or style (asking himself questions etc) but is his tendency to oppose criticism of a players on ice performance because the player is "such a good person".
I think in life, it matters much more if you are a good person rather than a good hockey player but when we are listening to a radio program or game preview and he constantly takes the opposing position to someone criticizing an under performing player because the player does so much in the community and is such a good guy with a big heart yadda yadda yadda it kind of demeans his credibility and ability to separate his personal relationships with players he interacts with every day and his job to provide unbiased coverage of the local team.
Excellent broadcaster, true professional and well deserving of the respect he has earned but just a personal gear grinder, I guess.
