The media, and the Canadian people seemed to agree, he was re-eelected and Ir ead a lot of opinions from some of the very people in this thread that the apology meant he showed the appropriate amount of contrition and we should all move on. Which I can accept, I think that's a good standard for society to have. It becomes perplexing, however, so to see essentially the same situation play out now and have the same people suddenly being on the side of no apology is enough and Peters needs to go full stop. The minor differences in age (29 vs 45 big whoop), time elapsed, level of racism (stuffing a sock down your tattered jean shorts and whooping like an ape with blackface seems pretty racist to me), and perceived quality of apology are all red herrings and inconsequential. My beef is with the large overlapping number of people who forgave Trudeau but won't extend the same to Peters. Unfortunately for society, instead of realizing a common sense forgiveness standard it seems to be more about taking any and all people out who transgress except those on your "side" like Trudeau or the lady from CTV who stereotyped hockey players.

You forget that CP has a rather substantial % of the venn diagram overlap of Liberal party supporters and flames fans.

Maybe its just the overly vocal ones.. idk
