One of the interesting dynamics of the abuse stuff coming out right now is some of the players who are speaking up and how clean are they. Something tells me, maybe I’m wrong, that some these players, especially certain ones have done some on ice verbal bullying themselves, maybe even some locker room mental or physical bullying, player to player.
I get one the difference is the power position the coach has, but other than that it’s still a professional environment co-worker to co-worker. Is it ok because trash talking and attempting to gain an edge in sport through mental abuse is ok? Not to trying to justify what these coaches have done, but when you are managing employees who many of them go out and verbally abuse, and physically cross the line with the rules of the sport everyday to try and win and earn their living, does that influence what you you think acceptable or even necessary to get through to someone? (only referring to the bullying aspect here).
