So what will happen when this comes out again in the future on the player side? I just don't think a handful of games of suspension will be enough. If people are really serious about getting rid of racism, homophobia and other injustices in sport, than you got to go full throttle. I am talking about getting SERIOUS about these things.

I don't think too many people should really object to a superstar player being banished for the rest of their career. I mean I get that a lot of people are really worked up about this incident and it's not a good situation but if this conversation is really about moving forward, than people got to be honest about what needs to happen. I don't want to hear the BS excuse that people in positions of power should be held to additional account. Racist comments are racists comments and low level losers in any organization don't get the mulligan and the top dogs get the freight train running them over.
The difference becomes the amount of power a person has over the victim. A player calls an opponent a slur there is a mechincism or dealing with it on the ice. A guy calls his co-worker a slur and if the workplace has a good culture it would be dealt with. A coach calls the player a slur and then sends them to the minor or a boss lays off the person because their a minority and it’s much harder for the victim to get any kind of justice.

It is inherently less bad when it is low level losers than power brokers therefore the consequences should be different. This doesn’t excuse those at the player or worker level but it isn’t as bad.

Shades of grey is important here.
