FWIW, while DeCaprio was uncomfortable with saying the word in Django, Foxx and Jackson convinced him it was OK, which it was, in a period piece. I did find Tarantino writing it for himself in Pulp Fiction to be pretty gratuitious, and IIRC Jackson also told him he didn't really like it (not so much he quit obv.)
