Here's a highlight of Flames interim coach Geoff Ward from his days with the Bruins.

So are the Flames distracted? Or are they trying so hard to ignore this circus that we get their 200% effort?

I'm gonna guess the Sabres are more motivated after the Dahlin hit and the Flames are a little more on the distracted end, we see things a little tilted towards Buffalo. 3-2 Sabres.

As awful a situation as this Bill Peters thing is right now, this is the time for the Sabres to take advantage of a dysfunctional Flames team. Get out there early and make a statement.
This is Calgary's 4th road game in a row. They might be tired and ready to go home. Throw in their head coach is involved in some heavy allegations and isn't heading practice or the game might just send them off the rails.

Agree, we need to take advantage of the mess they’re in. I also wouldn’t mind snatching some of their players away in a trade this weekend.

Botts big head is like a sponge. He's vicariously assuming any brain damage suffered by Dahlin for the good of the team.

What team is he watching? I know he can’t and shouldn’t throw them under the bus. But he could’ve at least acknowledged the need for more grit at times.

Don't see any reason that we don't get slapped all aound the rink again tonight. Calgary has issues. Reason has it that they'll be looking for an outlet for their frustrations. Based on how much our boys bitched out last game, it seems Calgary came to the right place.
Maybe they use it for motivation to actually start playing like grown ass men. Let's hope so because if not, this team is done.

‘team toughness’ is incredibly vague. there certainly hasn’t been ‘player toughness’ during the games. regardless, it’s just meaningless bromides, platitudes and drivel to look enthusiastic towards the public while trying to protect his own backside.

Jason Botterill is absolutely delusional.

When Botts was hired I didn’t like the hire. I still don’t, but at least in the beginning my dislike came with an understanding that he has a different viewpoint and opinion. I was able to respect that. Hey I don’t know everything and I’ve been wrong before and will be wrong again.

the longer he’s been here, I have really started to hate him and my confidence in the Sabres failing has grown. As much as Murray came off with a sense of cockiness/obscure confidence, Botterill and his holier than thou attitude,as GM, comes off like he thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room, while not showing one instance where’s he outsmarted anybody.

He can take his toughness comment and shove it up his ***. You don’t come back from the Swedish trip and come out of the game vs Tampa with as little push back as they did and come to the media and fans with that comment.

OK I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw that. Like...what is he thinking?

Calgary dumps the puck in but has to tag up--and they have guys deep, so it takes some time. Sabres leave the puck in the corner ALL ALONE and Calgary almost gets to it first AFTER tagging up. And then it takes another minute before they can get the puck out.

Unbelievable.

I'm just sick of losing games because the other goalie is way better than ours. Goaltending is such a huge position and we haven't had a goalie the team has confidence in since Miller

Having a Vezina caliber goaltender will transform the way an entire team plays. It's huge. They become more aggressive and start believing in themselves. I've seen it with Hasek, Miller, Lundmark, Quick, and Binnington. You do need other improvements but goaltending can hide a lot of problems allow you to build a team in a winning environment. It's hard to develop players and get them to be aggressive when every other mistake ends up in their net. The Sabres have shootophobia because if they miss the net it's a turnover going the other way. They're passing up good scoring chances by taking "safe" shots into the goalie's chest and over passing. I think a lot of that has to do with lack of confidence in the goaltending.
