I think more likely the prior silence on this is more about how the ground of hockey culture is shifting beneath our very feet. More likely, this is the kind of thing that players have historically kept to themselves, and within their own tight circles. Given the history of hockey culture it would come as no surprise that virtually all players were once loathe to speak to management about these sorts of issues. THAT is the big change we are now seeing take place.
