And I think the point is that “respectful” is not simply the low bar we’re looking to clear.

Is Drew Doughty respectful when he talks about Tkachuk? No, and we don’t call for his head. Context matters, and in context using “Jesus Christ” in vain falls somewhere in the vast span between calling someone a “loser” and using the n-word.

People say offensive stuff all the time. Not every offensive comment is created equally, so expecting anything and everything “disrespectful” to be treated exactly the same or “consistently” makes zero sense.
